
An easy slow cooker recipe that results in juicy, flavorful pork with crispy edges, perfect for tacos, burritos, bowls, or just eating on its own.
Ingredients
- 4-5 lbs pork shoulder (trimmed of excess fat)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tbsp cumin
- 1 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 tbsp smoked paprika (optional)
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 1 medium jalapeño (seeded and diced, optional)
- 1 cup orange juice (about 2 oranges)
- ¼ cup lime juice (about 2 limes)
- ½ cup chicken broth

Pat the pork dry and rub with salt, pepper, cumin, oregano, smoked paprika, and chili powder.

Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and sear the pork on all sides for about 2 minutes per side until browned.

Place the pork in the slow cooker and add garlic, onion, and jalapeño if using.

Pour in the orange juice, lime juice, and chicken broth. Cover and cook on LOW for 8-10 hours or HIGH for 4-5 hours until fork-tender.

Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.

Optional: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat, add oil and a layer of shredded pork. Spoon some juices over the meat and cook without stirring for 2-3 minutes until crispy, then flip and crisp the other side.
